When to use next day delivery

Next day delivery is the right choice when a consignment has to arrive tomorrow but does not have to arrive today. It is the most cost-effective tier we offer because the vehicle has time to plan an efficient route, and the consignment can travel alongside other deliveries heading in the same direction. Despite the lower price, the service is still run end-to-end by Cend — not handed to a parcel network — so the standard of handling, tracking and proof of delivery is the same as on our same day service.

For businesses that ship daily or weekly, next day is the workhorse service: payroll documents to branch offices, sample parts to engineers, low-priority spares to a workshop, contract paperwork on its way back from signature, or stock heading from a Manchester warehouse to a regional retailer. Any non-urgent shipment that still needs a reliable arrival window fits next day.

How our next day service works

  • Quote and book today. Tell us the collection address, the delivery address and the consignment details before our daily cut-off.
  • Same-day collection. We collect during the working day from your Manchester or UK address.
  • Overnight transit. Consignments depart Manchester on overnight runs to regional drop points.
  • Next day delivery. Delivered to the destination address the following working day with signature on delivery.
  • POD on completion. Electronic proof of delivery sent to you when the consignment is signed for.

What can you send next day?

Most consignments fit our next day service. The most common we handle are:

  • Business documents and contracts where a date-stamped arrival matters but minutes do not
  • Spare parts and components for next-day workshop or installation work
  • Retail stock and replenishment loads
  • Catalogues, marketing collateral and event materials
  • Personal items including identity documents, gifts and online sale dispatches
  • Pallet loads for trade and B2B customers

If your consignment is fragile, hazardous, high-value or temperature-sensitive, please tell us when you quote. Most of these can be accommodated but may require a specific vehicle or handling.

Next day vs same day — which is right?

  • Next day — cost-effective, planned overnight transit. Choose this when the consignment can be delivered tomorrow.
  • Same day — collection within hours and delivered today. Choose this when waiting is not an option.
  • Express — the fastest service, with 60-minute collection. Choose this when every minute matters.

Frequently asked questions

What time is the cut-off for next day collection?

Cut-off depends on the destination. For overnight to most of the UK we need consignments collected by 16:00. For the Highlands, far South West and Northern Ireland the cut-off is earlier. We will confirm the exact cut-off when we quote your job.

Is Saturday and Sunday delivery available?

Yes. Our next day service operates seven days a week. Some remote postcodes may add a day at weekends — we will tell you when we quote.

How much does next day delivery cost?

Pricing is based on weight, dimensions, destination and any special handling. Most envelope and small parcel jobs nationwide start from around £15. Pallet and larger consignments are quoted per route.

Is the delivery signed for?

Every Cend next day delivery is signed for at the destination, with electronic proof of delivery sent to you on completion.

Can I track my consignment?

Yes. Every consignment is tracked end-to-end. You receive a tracking link by email when we collect, and the recipient can see the delivery progress as well.

Do you handle pallet loads?

Yes. Cend handles single envelopes through to full pallet loads on our next day service. Tell us the consignment details when you quote and we will assign the right vehicle.
