The right vehicle for the job
Most parcel networks pick a single vehicle type and route every consignment through it. At Cend we do the opposite — we assess every job and assign the right vehicle for the load, the destination and the deadline. That keeps the cost honest (a small parcel does not need a Luton van) and keeps the service quick (a palletised load is not delayed by being forced into a vehicle too small for it).
Below is the full range of vehicles in our Manchester fleet, with realistic payloads and the kinds of jobs each is most suited to.
Motorbikes and cars
For the smallest, fastest jobs — document deliveries, small samples, identity papers, urgent spare parts. Motorbikes can cut through Manchester traffic in ways no van can, which makes them the right choice when minutes matter on a short local job. Cars are ideal for slightly larger envelopes and small parcels, and they extend our reach into out-of-town destinations.
Small and medium vans
The standard same day delivery vehicle. Suitable for parcels and boxed consignments up to roughly 500 kg. Small vans cover most express and same day work, including pharmacy deliveries, retail restocks, contract paperwork and individual e-commerce drops.
Long-wheelbase vans
The right vehicle for multi drop work and bulk same day jobs — capable of holding multiple consignments at once or single longer items that will not fit in a smaller van. Typical payload up to 1.2 tonnes.
Luton box vans (with tail-lift)
Large enclosed loadspace with a tail-lift for heavy or awkward items. Suited to event logistics, larger retail loads, fragile crated equipment, and consignments where a tail-lift makes loading and unloading safer at either end.
7.5-tonne trucks
For palletised freight and very large consignments. We can carry multiple pallets on a single vehicle, which makes 7.5-tonne work cost-effective for full-load same day and next day distribution.
Specialist handling and equipment
- Temperature-aware vehicles for pharmaceutical and food deliveries where temperature integrity matters.
- Tail-lift equipped Luton vans and 7.5-tonne vehicles for heavy or palletised loads.
- Tamper-evident pouches and seals for high-value or confidential consignments.
- Two-driver runs for very long-distance same day jobs requiring continuous transit.
All vehicles are GPS-tracked from Manchester
Every Cend vehicle, regardless of size, runs the same GPS tracking and reporting platform. Our operations team in Manchester monitors every consignment in real time, which lets us update you instantly if there is a hold-up or a route change, and gives us the data to plan repeat work efficiently.
Choosing the right vehicle
When you call or quote online, our team picks the vehicle for you based on what you are sending. If you are not sure of the size or weight, just describe the consignment and we will recommend a vehicle and quote a fixed price.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know which vehicle I need?
You don't have to — we choose for you when we quote. Just tell us the rough dimensions and weight of the consignment (or that it is an envelope, a parcel, a box, a pallet, etc.) and we will recommend the right vehicle and price accordingly.
What is the largest consignment you can carry?
Our 7.5-tonne trucks can carry full pallet loads — up to 14 pallets depending on configuration. For larger jobs we can run multiple vehicles in convoy.
Are the vehicles signed-up to Cend or subcontracted?
All vehicles in our same day, express, multi drop and document services are Cend-owned and Cend-driven. We do not subcontract these services to other carriers.
Do you have temperature-controlled vehicles?
We operate temperature-aware vehicles suitable for pharmaceutical and food deliveries where chilled or ambient temperature integrity matters. Tell us the requirement when you quote.
Can the driver help with loading and unloading?
Yes. All Cend drivers will help with loading and unloading reasonable consignments at either end. Heavy or awkward loads are best handled with our tail-lift Luton vans — specify when you quote.
Do you operate vehicles outside the UK?
Yes. Our vans and Luton vehicles run regularly to Europe by road and ferry. Quote times include border-crossing time where applicable.
